Konica Minolta continues to be a force in the MFP market, and the entry of the new konica minolta c258 promises to stir up the competition a bit more. The Konica Minolta bizhub should be a gem considering it has gone through continuous upgrades.
First upgrade is the addition of the Konica Minolta INFO-Palette design control panel, that provides users a 9” color screen with a touch and swipe functionality, a feature commonly found only in mobile electronic gadgets. It is now possible to customize commonly used workflows direct on the screen. Mobile connectivity has been improved, and an optional voice guidance system to understand fully screen instructions.
A web browser is an added standard feature as it provides convenient support for a wide variety of apps. And seeing the need for a much reliable technical support, the C258 is loaded with a 4GB of memory and matched with a 250GB hard disk drive, with PostScript and PCL printing readily available. Mobile printing via AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and NFC are also standard feature of this model.
Paper handling is as well improved, it starts with a dual 500-sheet trays and also allows a 150-sheet bypass tray. There are also additional paper options like the 500-sheet tray, plus two 500-sheet letter size tray. A large 3,000-sheet capacity is added into the combination, bringing the maximum paper capacity to 6,650 sheets.
Performance is now a by-word as the C258 monthly duty cycle has been upgraded to reach 80,000 pages, which is normal if the printing speed is 25 ppm (pages per minute) or more for both color and black and white. First page-copy time is notched to be only 7.5 seconds in color, making it extra reliable. Energy consumption in sleep mode has been reduced from the regular 1W for most models to 0.5W for the Konica Minolta C258.
