The HP LaserJet 4250 is a relatively small printer ideal for busy offices with a demanding print load. It prints fast at 45 pages per minute and toner cartridge yield is approximately 10,000 pages @ 5% coverage. And since it is a monochrome laser printer, you only need to replace one cartridge when it runs out of toner.
The newer the printer, the easier it is to install. This is the trend now. True to every word, setting up a printer for operation is a piece of cake. Simply install the printer drivers and downloads compatible with your printer. And use HP Web JetAdmin (management software) to set up the printer network. Despite the ease of setup though, it is still possible to encounter boo-boos such as the “Printer in Error State”.
“Printer in Error State” is one of the most common printer errors a user might encounter. But this is not a cause for alarm though. It can easily be fixed.
Cause of the Problem: Wrong Driver installed or Wrong Port installed
How to Fix Printer in Error State:
- Disconnect the USB cable that connects the printer to the computer. Delete the printer in the "Devices and Printers". Select the printer and then press "delete".
- Insert the installer CD/DVD in the computer. A window will appear containing the step-by-step procedure of installing the printer driver. Read and follow the steps carefully. At some point you will be asked to choose the operating system of your computer. Ensure that you choose the correct one. If unsure, right click “My Computer”, and then click “Properties”. Connect the USB cable ONLY when the instruction tells you to do so. The printer must be powered on so that the computer will be able to detect it.
- Print a test page once the printer driver installation is finished. Go to "Devices and Printers", right click the printer, select "printer properties", and then click the "Print test page" button.
If you fail to print a test page, do check the printer status. Go to “Devices and Printer”. Move the mouse pointer directly to the printer name. The status will appear. If the printer is on READY status, try printing another test page. However, if the status is OFFLINE, follow these steps. Transfer the USB cable to another USB port in the computer until the printer status will change to “READY”. Print another test page. Make sure that your HP LaserJet 4250 printer is equipped with a Q5942A 42A toner cartridge.
